Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and Simply Good Foods Ignite Change with Spark & Spoon Project
Multi-Year Partnership to Support Experiential Nutrition Education and the Expansion of Food Access and Healthy Lifestyles Programming
Denver, CO - April 17, 2024 - Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and nutritional snacking company Simply Good Foods (Nasdaq: SMPL), headquartered in Denver, are thrilled to unveil their transformative partnership and together launch the Spark & Spoon Project which seeks to create positive change on the intractable issues of food insecurity, childhood obesity, and lack of nutrition education so every Club kid can reach their full potential.
This innovative project will create equitable opportunities for over 28,000 kids and teens across Metro Denver to access unique nutrition education, healthy lifestyle, and culinary programs and address food insecurity among Club member families. Through this collaboration, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver will expand cooking classes across all Clubs, distribute weekly healthy food boxes to all Club families in need, organize field trips showcasing unique career and learning opportunities, and sponsor a new full-time staff member to join the of the Boys & Girls Club team to manage the Spark & Spoon Project.
Simply Good Foods' strong multi-year commitment goes beyond financial support, as the company actively collaborates on forward-thinking programming, volunteers time, and develops community resources like the Spark & Spoon Community Cookbook. This cookbook, featuring recipes from Club members and their families, aims to build a sense of community, celebrate cultural foods, and encourage healthy eating habits.
Geoff Tanner, President & CEO of Simply Good Foods and the newest addition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver board, has been instrumental in steering this partnership to fruition.
