Youth Development Specialist at Aurora Quest Boys & Girls Club
We are delighted to shine a spotlight on Kelsee Elkins, Youth Development Specialist at Aurora Quest Boys & Girls Club! Kelsee joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver in August 2023, and in just a year, she has become an invaluable part of our team.
With a background as a nanny and tutor, Kelsee naturally stepped into her role as a Youth Development Specialist. Her passion for building meaningful connections with kids and introducing them to new, enriching experiences has made her a perfect fit. One of her standout moments was organizing a field trip to a local high school soccer game. The kids excitedly cheered, got autographs from the players, and fully immersed themselves in the experience—showing just how powerful even the simplest moments can be.
Kelsee shared, “I enjoy working for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver because we have a consistent mission and message of providing a safe space for our members to play, learn, and grow.” She is inspired by the dedication of her fellow staff members, who work tirelessly to uplift and enrich the communities around them. Kelsee also finds great joy in collaborating with local community partners to create impactful experiences that foster growth in Club members.
One special partnership was with Burning Through Pages, a non-profit promoting a love for reading. As an Education Specialist, Kelsee led a weekly Book Club that, thanks to this partnership, provided over 75 books to the Club. Kelsee recalls watching a once-shy Club member, who initially avoided reading aloud, grow into a confident reader, highlighting the power of a positive learning space.
Additionally, one of Kelsee’s favorite memories is working with Aurora Fire Department for a surprise visit to the Club. Firetrucks and hands-on demonstrations gave members a glimpse into the life of a firefighter. The experience left a lasting impression, sparking dreams of future careers among many of the kids. This unforgettable experience exemplified how local partnerships, along with dedicated staff like Kelsee, create lasting memories for our youth.
