Join CBS4–KCNC-TV, King Soopers, 97.3 KBCO and KOA NewsRadio to collect new toys and cash donations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s 2017 Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive.
King Soopers will collect new, unwrapped toys at all Front Range locations from Friday, November 24 through December 24, 2017. Shoppers also have the option of making a cash donation in the form of a gift card or visiting www.cbsdenver.com to donate.
“CBS4 is delighted to work with King Soopers, KBCO and KOA NewsRadio this year to help collect toys and gift cards for kids whose families may not be able to buy presents this season,” Walt DeHaven, CBS4 General Manager said. “Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is a great organization to support. They help so many children in need in our community by offering them a place to do homework, be creative and participate in sports.”
Anchors Alan Gionet and Britt Moreno and partner radio stations 97.3 KBCO and KOA NewsRadio, will spearhead the 2017 Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive. Donations such as toys, games, art kits, sporting equipment, electronics, bikes, helmets, gift cards, make-up, hats , scarves and other personal accessories are needed for the thousands of boys and girls served at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver youth facilities throughout the area.
On Thanksgiving Day, KOA NewsRadio will air a special one-hour program, hosted by CBS4’s Alan Gionet, to promote the toy drive and highlight the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. “Giving Thanks – a KOA NewsRadio and CBS4 Special Report” will air at 6 a.m., 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
On Friday, December 15, CBS4, 97.3 KBCO and KOA NewsRadio will hold a special day long toy drive at King Soopers, at Colorado and Yale, with coverage during all CBS4 newscasts from 4:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to stop by that day to donate toys they are collecting this holiday season. KOA’s Colorado Morning News will broadcast live from 5 a.m. – 10 a.m. and the Mandy Connell Show will broadcast live from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. KBCO’s Keefer will be live from King Soopers from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
“We are pleased to once again be teaming up with CBS4 and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver to provide toys to those in need,” Adam Williamson from King Soopers said. “We are especially excited to have a big toy collection day that will help us reach our donation goal.”
The University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation will help support the Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive again this year by collecting toys at the University’s Daniel L. Ritchie Center before all hockey, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and gymnastics meets beginning November 17. Pioneer fans can drop off toys to representatives at any of the facility’s three concourse entrance locations before competitions. In addition, D.U. will hold a special collection day on Saturday, December 9 from 9 a.m. -11 a.m. on the north side of the Ritchie Center where the general public can drive by and drop off their donations.
Toys collected through the Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive will be distributed at Boys & Girls Clubs’ holiday parties beginning in mid December. Additional donated items will be used throughout the year in all of the clubs as prizes for the Power Hour learning center program, where kids can earn prizes for doing homework.
Since 1961, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has provided young people with opportunities to engage in programs that help them achieve academic success, take charge of their health and develop the skills they need to become leaders in the community. The organization operates 15 neighborhood Clubs and serves more than 10,000 kids in the metro Denver area.
