Thousands of kids walk through the doors of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver every day – each with a story to tell and big dreams to pursue. I am fortunate to be able to know so many of these brilliant, inspiring young leaders through my role as CEO, and witness the transformation of their dreams into reality throughout their years at the Club.
Ten years ago, today, the United Nations declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl. On this day, individuals and businesses across the globe are called on to amplify girls’ voices and advocate for their rights by sharing stories, engaging policymakers, and raising their awareness of the challenges girls face worldwide.
Today, I’m excited to share the stories of four young women who amaze me. They are brave, they are trailblazers, and they are committed to making their Clubs and communities a more vibrant place. Each of these young women has been attending their Clubs for over a decade - nearly 50 years collectively! They have become voices of hope for me, our staff, and the thousands of members who rely on their local Boys & Girls Club every day. Click below to meet Mia, Nashara, Naja’Ray, and Eunique.
These young women are only four of the countless Club kids who inspire me and our staff. Today, in honor of International Day of the Girl, I urge you to reflect on the young people in your life who have impacted you and tell their stories to someone.
Here’s to all the incredible young women and men who are already changing the world, and to the great futures ahead of them!
