For eleven year-old Club member Brylynn, the Boys & Girls Club is a family affair. All four of Brylynn’s siblings joined the Boys & Girls Club when they became eligible for a membership at age six. Brylynn was no different. In fact, she recalls her sixth birthday as the day she was finally able to become a member and experience all of the opportunities at the Boys & Girls Club that she always heard her older brothers talk about.
Brylynn and her brothers have depended on the Club for warm meals and a safe, accessible place to go after school and throughout the summer. With all the time that Brylynn has spent at the Boys & Girls Club over the last five years, the staff have become her second family. They are her coaches and mentors. From teaching coping mechanisms to ensuring homework is completed, the staff at the Club give Brylynn words of encouragement and inspire her to become one of tomorrow’s leaders.
“The staff at the Club have high hopes and expectations for all of the kids here,” said Brylynn. “I’ve been pushed to be the best and brightest I can be.”
