Montbello Teens and Boys & Girls Club Members Host Fourth Annual March for Peace

With Support from Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, the Montbello Community Gathers for a Free 5K

Denver, CO – May 30, 2024 - Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver proudly announces the fourth annual March for Peace, set to take place on June 1, 2024, in Denver's Montbello neighborhood. This inspiring event, initiated by members and alumni of Denver Broncos Boys & Girls Club, Naja’Ray W. (2023 State Youth of the Year) and Nashara E. (2024 State Youth of the Year), continues to foster community unity and peace.

The March for Peace was born out of a desire to address the growing violence in the Montbello neighborhood in 2020. Motivated to take action, Naja’Ray and Nashara, with support from the Rise program and former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons, organized the first March for Peace in 2021. Now, as they graduate and transition to Club alumni, they are preparing for their final March for Peace as the hosts, continuing their legacy of positive change.

March for Peace is more than a 5K run/walk; it is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to connect and promote peace. The event underscores the resilience of the community and the dedication of the Club members leading the initiative. Through shared activities, participants can build relationships and work towards a common goal of peace and understanding.

In addition to the 5K run/walk, March for Peace will offer a variety of activities designed to engage attendees and promote well-being. The event will feature a free food buffet, pop-up shops featuring local Montbello small businesses, and self-care sessions. Additionally, a fitness carnival will provide opportunities for participants to engage in diverse fitness activities. These activities aim to enhance physical and mental wellness, build lasting relationships, and foster a strong sense of community.

The March for Peace welcomes all members of the Denver community to come together in the spirit of building a better future. Mark your calendars for June 1, 2024, and be a part of this important opportunity to build peace and understanding. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Denver Broncos Boys & Girls Club (4397 Crown Blvd., Denver, CO 80239), with opening remarks by Naja’Ray and Nashara. The 5k begins at 10 a.m. and the event will conclude at 2 p.m.
