Nathan’s Story
Nathan looks at everything in his world – and beyond – with curiosity and confidence. He has attended his Club for five years and has participated in so much of what Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has to offer. In fact, he is the perfect Club tour guide because he has fallen in love with every Club experience he’s had access to!
“Right now, I love to play football and basketball. In third grade, I did lots of projects in the tech lab and in fourth grade I read a lot of books in the education room. But we also have an art room, and a music room, an outdoor basketball court, a gym – and you can go on field trips, too!”
Reading and science at the Club are helping Nathan develop the skills he needs to eventually accomplish his biggest goal: becoming an astronaut. “I want to be an astronaut because there is a lot of stuff outside of this world, and I want to see it!” To achieve his dream, Nathan plans to first become a pilot and then go to college for “at least six years.” In the meantime, he has plenty of years left at the Club to nurture his curiosity, education, and leadership skills.
Not only is Nathan free and supported to pursue his dream at the Club, he also finds a place to start fresh every day. Nathan said, “If I’m ever mad or upset, I can come here to the Club and I always feel better.”
Nathan knows the Club is special in a foundational way. He says if he could change anything about the world, he “would change homelessness and hunger. People don’t get what we get [at the Club] and it’s unfair for some people.”
We are so proud of Nathan for his ambition, curiosity, hunger for discovery, and his kind heart. This year, we invite you to join us in kids like Nathan and help create futures for kids and our Metro Denver communities that are truly out-of-this-world.
