An Array of Summer Activities Await
Sports Clinics and Leagues
The Club welcomes everyone to participate in sports! Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver team sports leagues and clinics provide kids at every level of experience a platform to channel their energy, engage in fun exercise, and connect with members from different Clubs across Metro Denver.
Summer programming kicked off with the annual Rockies Clinic at J. Churchill Owen Boys & Girls Club. Over 180 kids from Clubs across our organization attended, taking advantage of the opportunity to learn new skills, practice with Rockies players, and meet the Rockies’ beloved mascot, Dinger! Stationed across the field, kids participated in a home run derby, as well as pitching, base running, defense and offense activities, and agility training. This annual baseball clinic invites Club members outside to have fun and hone their baseball skills with professional players from the Rockies.
Club kids also brought their A-game to the Track & Field Jamboree. Over 100 Club kids ages 10 to 14 participated in long-distance running, relays, and even shot-put practice. These kids pushed themselves, running like the wind and tearing up the track. Beyond the physical engagement of the day, the jamboree emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork.
Outdoor Recreation
Kids who attend our summer programs are treated to exhilarating day trips including visits to Gates Camp, our summer camp in the woods near Ward, Colorado. Nestled at the foot of the Indian Peaks Wilderness area, Gates Camp presents an extraordinary opportunity for Boys & Girls Club members to venture beyond their familiar surroundings, immerse themselves in the wonders of the great outdoors, and develop new skills. The camp's distinctive offerings allow kids to experience a diverse range of outdoor activities, many of which are entirely new to them.
At Gates Camp, Club members fish, try archery, canoe, compete in ropes courses, rock climb, and hike. Through these transformative and unforgettable experiences at Gates Camp, members not only develop resilience and essential leadership skills but also cultivate a profound appreciation for the great outdoors. These remarkable moments become treasured memories that will continue to inspire and impact them long after the summer program ends.
The experiences of summer play a vital role in shaping the lives of children, which is why we are dedicated to creating remarkable opportunities for learning, growth, and exploration. Recognizing the profound impact of summer experiences on young individuals, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver places a high priority on establishing a safe environment where kids can foster relationships with trustworthy adults and build lasting friendships while they discover new worlds. We curate lasting memories through a wealth of engaging opportunities, all while relishing boundless FUN during Summer at the Club. Through this transformative journey, Club members are empowered with the tools and confidence they need to navigate life's challenges and embrace their full potential.
