When Regina was a high school sophomore, she joined a group of fellow Boys & Girls Club members to visit Colorado State University. While touring the campus, Regina got a glimpse of what college life had to offer and she knew that she wanted that experience for herself. This CSU visit gave Regina the motivation she needed to make the most out of her time spent in high school in order to attend college.
Regina has attended the Jefferson County Boys & Girls Club since the age of twelve and she knew that she could turn to her Club for the support she needed to make her college ambitions a reality. She used the Club’s Learning Center to get homework help and maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout high school. As the president of the Keystone Leadership Club, Regina lead multiple community service projects both in the Club and within the surrounding community. Eventually she took on paid positions working as a Junior Staff Member during the school year and Counselor-in-Training at Gates Camp in the summer. Regina’s commitment, dedication and caring heart helped her become a role model both at the Club and in her community.
With help from her Boys & Girls Club, Regina was able to maintain good grades, develop leadership skills, build a resume and graduate from high school. Now after four years of hard work, she will head up to CSU this fall to become the first member of her family to attend college.
“My parents are what really motivates me to go to college,” said Regina. “I want to be able to have a good career so that I can help them out one day.”
Regina is one of many Club members who graduated from high school this year. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and can’t wait to see what they will accomplish next.
